With the extensive clinical and research expertise available at UCSD, our patients receive a multi-disciplinary approach to their problems, many of which require the combined efforts of specialists in neuroradiology, neurosurgery, reconstructive surgery, radiation medicine, pediatrics, smell and taste testing, and rheumatology.

 

Our surgical oncology team is based at the state-of-the-art Moores Cancer Center, where leading-edge, multidisciplinary approaches are used for head and neck cancer patients, including access to clinical trials of new therapies. We have been fortunate to acquire the very latest image-guidance systems for stereotactic radiotherapy and for complicated skull base surgery, surgical lasers, monitoring devices to make surgery safer and microsurgical instrumentation for the very latest in minimally-invasive surgery.

 

Our audiology service can provide you with accurate diagnostic testing for hearing loss and balance disorders and can dispense the latest, most advanced hearing aids suited to your needs. We have a well-established cochlear implant service as well as a program for implantable hearing aids such as the BAHA. For those of you interested in cosmetic surgery, we can offer a full range of facial rejuvenation procedures including Botox, collagen injections, rhinoplasty, face lifts, eyelid lifts, brow lifts, and plastic surgery of the ear, as well as complex facial reconstruction.

 40th Anniversary Minimize
Division Celebrates 40th Anniversary and Dr. Harris's 25th Year As Chief


2011 marks the 40th anniversary of the UC San Diego Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, and we had a great celebration!  In concert with our Resident Graduation on June 24, we held an all-day Academic Day with a long list of speakers, including many of our alumni, who are renowned in their sub specialty fields.  One of our keynote speakers was Dr. Jeffrey Harris, who this year celebrates his 25th year as Chief of the Division.
