I encourage you to familiarize yourself with the services we offer to patients who want to experience the “excellence and power of academic medicine.” Our staff is committed to delivering the highest level of medical and surgical care available anywhere in the world. I am proud that the faculty members we have recruited are highly trained in their respective specialty areas and are discovering and making available the very latest advances in their field. We provide consultation and treatment in the following areas: * Otology and Neurotology (Ear Disorders) * Acoustic Neuromas * Stereotactic Radiosurgery for Skull Base Tumors * Hearing and Balance Disorders * Facial Nerve Disorders and Reanimation * Rhinology * Sinus Dysfunction * Smell and Taste Disorders * Head and Neck Cancer * Advanced Skull Base Surgery * Microvascular Reconstruction of the Head and Neck * Endocrine Surgery (Thyroid and Parathyroid) * Pediatric Otolaryngology * Facial Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery * Sleep Medicine With the extensive clinical and research expertise available at UCSD, our patients receive a multi-disciplinary approach to their problems, many of which require the combined efforts of specialists in neuroradiology, neurosurgery, reconstructive surgery, radiation medicine, pediatrics, smell and taste testing, and rheumatology. Our surgical oncology team is based at the newly opened Moores Cancer Center, where state of the art, multidisciplinary approaches are used for head and neck cancer patients, including access to clinical trials of new therapies. We have been fortunate to acquire the very latest image-guidance systems for stereotactic radiotherapy and for complicated skull base surgery, surgical lasers, monitoring devices to make surgery safer and microsurgical instrumentation for the very latest in minimally-invasive surgery. Our audiology service can provide you with accurate diagnostic testing for hearing losses and balance disorders and can dispense the latest, most advanced hearing aids suited to your needs. We have a well-established cochlear implant service as well as a program for implantable hearing aids. For those of you interested in cosmetic surgery, we can offer a full range of facial rejuvenation procedures including Botox, collagen injections, rhinoplasty, face lifts, eyelid lifts, brow lifts, and plastic surgery of the ear. I hope that you will find the web site informative, and that it will help you select the most appropriate specialist for your condition. I also hope the patient information section will be helpful to you. Jeffrey P. Harris, MD, PhD, FACS Professor of Surgery/Otolaryngology & Neurotology = TOP =
