Harris_120.jpgAs we move into the next millenium, a "new biology" is emerging that promises to lead to significant advances in the understanding of disease processes as well as in patient care. Recognizing this fact, UCSD has built upon a strong basic science foundation to create a School of Medicine that has already begun to transfer these technological advances into everyday clinical practice. While being a very young institution, UCSD has already attained an impressive record of achievement. In its position within the School of Medicine, the Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery can offer a strong educational experience to applicants who wish a particularly broad perspective in the field of head and neck medicine and surgery while participating in an intimate learning environment.

Each of the faculty members in the Division is a subspecialist with advanced training in an important clinical area of our specialty. As such, we aspire to provide the very best care for our patients and the best education possible for our residents. No less important are our basic science and clinical research programs, which create an exciting environment of investigation and intellectual curiosity.

We welcome bright, motivated applicants who can take full advantage of this educational opportunity and in turn contribute to our program“s continued growth.

Jeffrey P. Harris, M.D., Ph.D.
Professor and Chief
