A word about resident supervision...

The division´s philosophy regarding residents, both in the surgical theater and in the clinic, is that the delivery of the highest standards of care must be achieved at all times and that there will, therefore, be the necessary faculty supervision to accomplish this. While it is recognized that some degree of resident growth is achieved by independence and the teaching of other residents, the faculty feel that instruction in the refinement of technique and surgical judgement requires faculty presence for the majority of surgical procedures performed in this training program.
