The UCSD John and Rebecca Moores Cancer Center (MCC) is one of only 39 facilities nationwide designated by the National Cancer Institute as a Comprehensive Cancer Center. The MCC was designed and built with a unique and innovative concept in mind, housing physicians and researchers under one roof to facilitate application of new cancer treatments and cures as they are discovered. This multidisciplinary-team approach to research and clinical care results in the broadest range of options available in the San Diego region and beyond. The UCSD MCC "total care program," another innovative concept, has a twofold mission, focusing on preventing cancer through diet and lifestyle changes, while helping those patients who are diagnosed cope with the emotional, psychological and economic effects of the disease. Dr. Robert Weisman heads the Head and Neck Oncology program at the Moores Cancer Center. map
